FGBA Classes
Classes are held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Each class night has its own separate waitlist, and students will be offered a place based on availability for their selected night.
Once placed in a Tuesday or Thursday class, we ask that students remain with that class night for the duration of the course. This helps us maintain consistent class sizes, keep the waitlists moving fairly, and ensures each student receives adequate instruction and forge time.
Advanced Class is held separately on Monday nights from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
ALL FGBA MEMBERS AND STUDENTS MUST BE MEMBERS OF AACB BEFORE PICKING UP A HAMMER

Green Coal is our beginner blacksmithing course. It consists of 13 projects taught using traditional methods, without power tools, and is designed to take about one year to complete. The course fee is $150, plus a $25 membership.

The Intermediate Blacksmith Course is the next step after Green Coal. Before enrolling, students must complete a proficiency test demonstrating the fundamental skills learned in the Green Coal course. The course fee is $100 and includes one attempt at each project. Students will be responsible for material costs when repeating a failed project.
The course consists of 9 projects with a greater emphasis on quality, consistency, and repetition. While continuing to build on traditional blacksmithing techniques, students will be introduced to more advanced forging processes, tooling, and methods that require greater precision and control. The goal is to take the fundamentals learned in Green Coal and develop them into repeatable, dependable skills that prepare students for advanced work.

The Advanced Class is an open-format class designed for students who have completed the previous courses and are ready to pursue more complex projects of their own choosing. Students will have access to the forge and guidance from experienced members while working through the techniques and challenges involved in their chosen projects.
The Advanced Class has a $100 consumables fee. Students are responsible for the cost of steel and other project-specific materials. Students may provide their own materials or purchase the necessary metal directly from the club.
