About Us
The Fiddlers Grove Blacksmith Association (FGBA) is a community of blacksmiths, artisans, and history enthusiasts located in the historic village of Fiddlers Grove in Lebanon, Tennessee. Our mission is to preserve and promote the traditional craft of blacksmithing by providing quality instruction, encouraging craftsmanship, and fostering a welcoming environment where people of all ages and experience levels can learn and grow.
Whether you’ve never picked up a hammer or have spent years working at the anvil, you’ll find a place in our community. We believe that blacksmithing is best learned through hands-on experience, mentorship, and the sharing of knowledge between generations of smiths.
To ensure every member develops a strong foundation in safety, forge operation, tool handling, and fundamental forging techniques, all members—regardless of prior experience—begin their journey by completing our Green Coal Blacksmith Course. This establishes a consistent standard of knowledge and allows every member to become familiar with our equipment, shop practices, and teaching methods before progressing to more advanced classes.
After completing the beginner course, members have the opportunity to continue developing their skills through intermediate and then advanced classes covering a wide range of traditional and modern blacksmithing techniques. From decorative ironwork and toolmaking to joinery, forge welding, and artistic projects, our goal is to provide opportunities for continuous learning throughout every stage of a blacksmith’s journey.
More than just a place to learn, the Fiddlers Grove Blacksmith Association is a community built on fellowship, craftsmanship, and preserving a trade that has shaped history for centuries. Through demonstrations, educational programs, community events, and mentorship, we strive to keep the art of blacksmithing alive while inspiring the next generation of smiths.
